Fish the murderer
Permalink

I had a disturbing dream last night in which the Fish tried to murder me - first by poisoning my drink, then by hiring an assassin, who I think was a farmer, to blow my head off with a shotgun. I escaped both attempts.

Has anyone else been the subject of a Fish murder plot - dreamt or real?

There was this time at cricket practise while batting when I swore he was purposely aiming his cricketball-armed lacrosse stick at my head. I never thought anything of it until now....

I must say that while I frequently dream about Fish and, indeed, various members of our club, I don't recall there ever being any murders carried out, attempted or merely plotted. What's more, I'd be quite surprised if he could afford to hire an assassin as I imagine that they are quite expensive. However, one can never rule out the possibility, I suppose. To be on the safe side, if you happen to meet g. Riba for a beer or even just a coffee at any stage, I'd definitely recommend asking him to taste your drink before you even contemplate having any of it yourself.  You can never be too careful. Murderers are like bowlers - they only have to get lucky once, and you're out.

Come to think of it, I expect a good-quality, reliable assassin would be much too expensive for Steve, so I doubt very much that he'd go for that option. I expect that putting poison in your drink would be his preferred method.

Your dream has anything to do with this latest hollywood blockbuster?

I do like that quote. Mind if I use it one day?

Well Lux,

I'm sorry to read about your disturbing dream. I can assure you mate, that I do not have any homicidal tendencies, and furthermore, while I'm hardly surprised you do have dreams about me, I'm somewhat astonished to read I appeared in this context.

I wish you warm and wetter dreams in the future.

I was pretty astonished too. But no kidding, that was the plot. Might have come from that practice match we had at Velden last year when you smashed the ball back to the bowler via my head from a yard and a half away.

Luxury, do you recall what made you suspect (without being certain) that the assassin Fish hired to kill was a farmer?

It's not a formal interview, we're just gathering information at this stage.

He was wearing green wellies, expertly handling a shotgun and we were walking up a farm lane. If he wasn't a farmer, or farmer-type, it was a bloody good disguise. I wouldn't swear by it, but it might have been in Dolenjska. The attempted poisoining took place at the Fish's house, which might have been an apartment, and it had an open-plan dining room/kitchen.

Interesting. Green wellies suggest an English farmer. There can't be many of them in Dolenjska. If you can give a description we could get a warrant issued.
