Basically, let us know about the eclectic musical taste of our forum readers. What are you listening to at the moment?
I'm listening to Sigur Ros "Takk" (atmospheric Icelandic weirdness) as we speak, but I have just finished playing The Sugababes "Overloaded - The Singles collection", (which I enjoyed far more than I probably should have)
When you step up to the forum wheels of steel, what will you be clutching in your DJ bag...?
Nothing eclectic today, Sunday is a day for old favourites from the mid 60s to early 70s, so
Velvet Underground -- Velvet Underground Marvin Gaye -- Let's Get It On Dionne Warwick -- Sings Bacharach & David

I haven't really got on with the little I've heard. Any recommendations?
'Takk' seems to be the best. If you like Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine etc, but a little bit mellower / melodic, then this may be your cup of tea. Perfect dark grey lazy Sunday afternoon stuff in my opinion.

I like Mogwai and MBV. Actually, Takk was the one I spent ages trying to download and then gave up. Don't have to now :)

I am currently being entertained by the Swedish indie group - Peter, Bjorn and John and their 2006 CD "Writer's block" which contains the absolutely stonking "Young Folks" single.
While I am attempting to proofread the world's most annoyingly boring text I have Aphex Twin - "Surfing on sine waves" playing to stop my brain from melting. Hmmm, don't know if it's working, my brain is actually melting. Still, cracking CD so who cares?

Did you know that this was the first ever commercial release as a pre-recorded DAT ? (digital audio tape). Apparently a previous Durutti Column album was the first commercally released solely on CD, also?
I like it, but always feel slightly underwhelmed by it. Nice but also in danger of occasionally disappearing up its own a***
Have stuck a copy of The Beatle's "Love" on before I have to start teaching. I do like this disk very much indeed. Sounds fresh and interesting without harming the original versions of these songs. Highly recommended.

I dint know that!
I know what you mean, I also feel underwhelmed but not enough to turn it off. Downloaded it last night on the off, I'm not sure it'll get too many airings.
Lined up some Brian Jonestown Massacre and some Holly Golightly.
I'm in the mood for some Norwegian Dance Music. Hence my cueing up of Royksopp with their "Melody AM" album. A bloody good record, but their next album was basically pants.

I know it's not Royskopp, I've got a compilation of Norwegian house that I picked up for 10 tolars or so in a sale a couple of years back. I'd be happy to pass it on, I don't like it very much.

10 tolars or so? I hope you made him give you change.
First time I listened to Sigur Ros - about 5 years ago - I was driving - of all things - to go skiiing in - of all places - Logatec (known to English customers of Slovenian timber suppliers as Lager&Tits), when I got chatting to someone who asked if I knew Roger Metcalfe. And oddly given I was listened to the "The Rosh" she turned out to be Icelandic.
I'm listening to Christmas presents - another Nuggets compilation and Charlie Mingus (such nimble fingus)... not so sure about that one.

You might as well amazon for CDs rather than spend the entire day looking for a shop that won't have what you want anyway. Mind you I picked up "Thirteen" and "Grand Prix" for 400 tolars a copy each in a strange and badly lit CD shop in BTC that quickly vanished not long after.

Yeh, I remember that one. Never a member of staff in there, couldn't see a bastard thing.
Re. online purchasing, it's worth looking at other sellers, even record companies and booksellers direct, rather than Amazon. They mostly seem to recognise Slovenia as EU.
I have Thomas Dolby "The Golden Age of Wireless" playing. This would be one of my top 10 favourite albums ever. Quirky, catchy, intelligent pop music with a nice electronic sound. Much underrated in my opinion. Not a weak track on it either.
just been washing up to the Beechwood Springs (see above)
felt like i was in the middle of the woods the camp was made and someone was heading out looking for firewood for later.
"you can take your gold and i'll take the forest you can have what's bought and sold cos i can't take much more of this my trees are green they always give me shade..."
a rhyme with forest for your presidente

I'm listening to an album called "The light at the end of the tunnel is a train" by a guy called "Whitey"
It is described as "the underground, narcotic Electro-Rock album of recent times, drenched in influences from 13th Floor Elevators, Can and tons of forgotten Garage rock and psychedelic fuzz nuggets."
What I've heard so far is pretty cool, but the description alone sounds like something our Joel would really like?

I've got 'Leave Em All Behind', but I didn't think it was all that.
