If you had to choose one batsman for your team, would you pick Pietersen or Hussey.
The stats say.
Kevin Pietersen 23 tests 44 innings Runs 2087 Highest 158 (3 times actually) Average 49.69 6 x 100 and 9 x 50 plus 14 catches
Micheal Hussey 16 tests 26 innings Runs 1597 Highest 182 Average 79.85 5 x 100 and 8 x 50 plus 8 catches
This is not as easy as it seems. KP can hurt a bowling attack like no other batsman I've seen in a long time, but if Hussey gets "in" he's just about impossible to remove. Both bowl a bit of "comedy" spin (though to be fair KP gets more turn than a lot of specialist spinners) and are fairly useful in the field.
My vote went for Hussey, but only just as I've yet to see Pietersen play a long solid innings in the way that Hussey can, although I can't imagine Hussey reverse sweeping Murali effortlessly for 6.
Although Hussey shares his birthday with one of Slovenia's greatest batsman, his test strike rate of just over 50 compared to KP's 73 means ENG 1 - AUS nul point....
