The retirement thread

A lot of players and officials have called it stumps on their careers after this world cup, beginning with Nathan Astle back in December and going through to Brian Lara and Duncan Fletcher.

Greg Chappell (india), Duncan Fletcher (Eng), Adrian Birrell (Ire), John Buchanan (Aus), Peter Cantrell (Netherlands) and Tom Moody (Sri Lanka) all finish as their national team coaches.

Players who have called it a day include Daan Van Bunge (The Dutch bowler who conceded 6 sixes in an over to Herschell Gibbs), Brian Lara, Glen McGrath, Saleem Mukkudem (Bermuda) Dean Minors (Bermuda), Anderson Cummins (Canada), George Codrington (Canada) Vusi Sibanda (Zimbabwe - aged 23!)

Those who have decided not to retire from One day cricket only include Inzamam Ul Haq (Pakistan), Anil Kumble (India) and no doubt some others I have missed. Craig Wright of Scotland joins Lara and Inzi in giving up the captaincy

Who will be missed the most? Will we see any more retirements?

Obviously Lara and McGrath will be hard shoes to fill and I think we might get a couple more announcements by the end of the World cup. Perhaps a few Sri Lankans may call it time - Arnold, Jaysuriya, Vaas, but probably not Murali. Vaughan (who has promised not to resign) ?
