It's a wee bit er one-paced. It's like this every week, actually. If you want to hear real boring podcasting, go find the Ian Chappell show.

We should start a podcast here. The Dan Ryan show - anyone?

For some reason I can't quite put my finger on, it feels like listening to a big, possibly simple, man talk about cricket as you're huddled in the basement after  nuclear Armageddon.

Yeh. I hear what you're saying. I get that all the time - especially the Armageddon thingy.

Have you approached the mid 70s BBC2 drama team for funding?

Some bloke called "Mike" probably.

I like the idea of a family knowing that there are people out there on the basis of Tony Greig talking about Paul Collingwood.

It's a winner. You could get Michael Gambon and Joan Plowright.

Filmed entirely on location in Penge. Special thanks to the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

Excellent idea.

Martin Jarvis will play the young schoolteacher.

Whatever happened to Martin Jarvis? You don't see him on the telly anymore, though he does seem to have cornered the narration of audiobooks market.

He's probably still in hiding now the first of his three appearances in Dr Who has been released on DVD -

from the 1965 William Hartnell "classic" The Web Planet - Martin Jarvis as a Menoptera

He´ll represent civilisation in the set-piece debate to David Yelland´s barely-repressed anarchy. There´ll be a struggle over the lighter fluid.

Cold showers are THAT way...
Martin Jarvis occasionally guests on Countdown, and although he's not often on telly, even now 24 hours of Radio 4 without him seem barren and incomplete.

I'm not a fan of Lunghi myself, but it's either her or a young Hannah Gordon.

All in case a young Jenny Agutter is unavailable of course ...

A young Cherie Lunghi.. very nice.

I think we see less of Martin Jarvis on our screens because there are fewer dramas featuring slightly suspect &/or criminal members of the clergy.

Provided you get that working time machine necessary to get the mid 70s BBC Drama team and also a young Cherie Lunghi. would you mind stopping off in 1969 and grabbing the lovely Wendy Padbury for me? Phwoar etc..

I like the oblique trajectory of this thread.

It started with Tony Greig, and ended with El Presidente et al going "Phwoooaaarr". Somewhat disturbing...
