Many of us have strange little things that we like to do while playing cricket or odd little superstitions.
Myself, I never like to face the first ball of an innings (not that I get the chance very often.) I am also terrified of a wide in the last over before a break as I have counted how many balls I need to survive and have been out too many times on the final ball when an extra ball has been added to the over.
I also like to walk in a small circle after facing each ball to try and force myself to concentrate again. For those who have seen me bat, this maybe doesn't seem to work, but I have to do it.
I also am rather aware of the number 87 on a scoreboard.
Our own Dan Ryan used to claim that he was unable to perform on the field unless he had a thourough skinful the night before and crawled into bed only a few hours before getting ready for the match...!
Adjust the gloves on both my hands twice, adjust my thighpad then box, look at both square boundaries then take guard. After a delivery like to talk to other batsman, (not mark) tell him how shyte the bowler is.

That's no strange habit in our club!
I have quite a few habits, some good, some not so:
Not being able to run
Having no idea what call Mark has made
Exhausting myself screaming at Brad to run
Being as clueless as an Australian with the pronunciation dilema that is "The Dolomites" (not, "Dollo-mighties" - the famed Italian philosopher according to Slogger) when Austrian cricket teams appeal for LBW 3ft down leg
Bowling at my feet
Fearing the ever changing, calling-enigma that is Ryan
Being knackered after 1 over at the crease
Smoking a fag before batting. If it's out before I go in, my innings is usually doomed
Bending down on my knees in a vain Lara-esque attempt to improve balance
